Objective The purpose of this study wa s to develop a scientific and comprehensive nutrition literacy evaluation index system for middle school students in Chongqing and provide reference tools for improving students’ nutrition literacy.Methods The evaluation index system of middle school students’ nutritional literacy in Chongqing was constructed based on the concept of nutritional literacy

existing literature and group discussion.This study employed a 2-round Delphi method to empirically verify the usability of the evaluation index system by obtaining a consensus from eighteen experts regarding the items and used the Analytic Hierarchy Process（AHP） to assign weights.Results The expert consultations’ response rates were 64.29% and 94.44 %

the values of authority coefficients were 0.8 194 and 0.8 176

and the coordination coefficient was 0.612（P<0.001）and 0.431（P<0.001） in the first and second round

respectively.The mean value of importance scoring of principal indicators and sub-indicators ranged 4.73-4.97 and 4.68-4.86

the coefficient of variation was lower than 0.25.The evaluation index system comprised 3 principal indicators

6 sub-indicators and 59 items.The weighting coefficient of the principal indicators was ranged from 0.3 186 to 0.3 495.Conclusion Using Delphi method and ΛHP can scientifically and effectively construct the evaluation index system of middle school students’ nutritional literacy.This index system can be used as a reference for evaluating students’ nutritional literacy

and provide the research basis for carrying out the corresponding nutrition education work.
