Therapeutic effect of repetitive upright training in treatment of patients with Parkinson’s disease and orthostatic hypotension: a case report
To investigate the therapeutic effect of repetitive upright training in the treatment of a patient with Parkinson’s disease and severe orthostatic hypotension(OH).
Methods
2
The head-up tilt test(HUTT) was performed before training and after 8 sessions of daily repetitive upright training. Another 8 sessions of daily repetitive upright training were performed, and then HUTT was performed again. The results of the three HUTT assessments were compared to evaluate therapeutic effect.
Results
2
The first HUTT reexamination showed that the upright tolerance time was prolonged from 2.5 minutes to 15 minutes. The second HUTT reexamination showed that the upright tolerance time was prolonged to 35 minutes. Finally, the severity of OH in this patient was reduced from grade 3 to grade 2.
Conclusion
2
Repetitive upright training has a rapid and significant therapeutic effect on severe OH.
