Effect of psychological nursing intervention on surgical stress response and postoperative recovery in patients undergoing laparoscopic radical prostate cancer resection
Objective To explore the effect of psychological nursing intervention on surgical stress response and postoperative recovery in patients undergoing laparoscopic radical prostate cancer surgery. Methods Ninety-eight patients who underwent laparoscopic radical prostate cancer surgery in a hospital in Mudanjiang from December 2018 to December 2019 were selected for the study. A random number table was used to divide the patients into an observation group and a control group
with 49 cases in each group. The patients in the control group were given conventional nursing interventions
while the patients in the observation group were given psychological nursing interventions in addition to conventional nursing. The visual analog scale(VAS)
Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale(HAMA) and Hamilton Depression Rating Scale(HAMD) scores of the patients in the two groups were compared before care and at the time of discharge. The levels of cortisol(COR)
adrenaline(AD)
norepinephrine(NE) and C-reactive protein(CRP) before and at 24 h of care were compared between the 2 groups. Results At discharge
the VAS
HAMA and HAMD scores of patients in the observation group were(2.13±0.20)
(9.32±0.91) and(8.99±1.05)
respectively
which were lower than the control group’s(3.85±0.38)
(14.04±1.48) and(13.26±1.37)
with statistically significant differences(P<0.05). The levels of COR
AD
NE and CRP in the observation group at 24 h of care were(120.41±15.67)ng/L
(131.40±16.96)ng/L
(384.02±49.70)ng/L and(0.49±0.06)mg/d L
respectively
which were lower than the control group’s(134.83±16.82)ng/L
(156.83±20.07)ng/L
(548.34±70.05)ng/L and(0.83±0.10)mg/d L
with statistically significant differences(P<0.05). The time to first postoperative ventilation
time to recovery of bowel function
time to first defecation
time of catheter retention
time of drainage tube retention and hospital stay in the observation group were(33.25±4.25)h
(22.06±2.82)h
(55.51±7.10)h
(5.59±0.71)d
(6.40±0.82)d and(8.43±1.08)d
all shorter than the(47.58±6.09)h
(29.69±3.80)h
(72.39±9.26)h
(7.42±0.95)d
(8.37±1.06)d and(12.51±1.60)d in the control group
with statistically significant differences(P<0.05). Conclusion Psychological nursing interventions can reduce the surgical stress response of patients undergoing laparoscopic radical prostate cancer surgery
relieve their pain
relieve adverse emotions such as anxiety and depression
promote the patients’ postoperative recovery
and improve nursing satisfaction
and therefore
it is worthy of wide application and promotion.
