A Clinical Observation of Zinc Gluconate as a Complementary Treatment of Acute Diarrhea of Children
Objective To observe the clinical effect of the orally taken zinc gluconate on the treatment and prevention of acute diarrhea of children.Method To divide 69 cases of child patients of acute diarrhea into the Treatment Group and Comparison Group at random. Both two groups received comprehensive treatment while the oral taking of zinc gluconate was added to the Treatment Group
and compared the durations of clinical symptoms of the patients of the two groups and their clinical effects. Results The overall effective rate of the Treatment Group was 89.47%
higher than the 77.41% number of the Comparison Group(P<0.05).Factors such as lengths of diarrhea
fever
and vomit were all shorter for the Treatment Group than the Comparison Group
and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.01).The rate of recurrence within three months for the Treatment Group was 18.42%
markedly lower than the 45.16% number of the Comparison Group(P<0.05).Conclusion Zinc Gluconate as a complementary treatment of acute diarrhea of children can improve clinical symptoms
shorten the treatment process
and significantly reduce the recurrence rate of the diarrhea within next three months.
