Objective To have knowledge about the distribution and resistance of staphylococcus aureus(SAU)so as to provide scientific basis for rational use of antibacterial drugs by clinicians.Method SAU clinically isolated in our Hospital from January 2010to December 2012was retrospectively analyzed.Drug sensitivity test was conducted using K-B Agar Diffusion Method and E-test Method as per standards of Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute(CLSI).Results Percentage of 229strains of isolated SAU in sputum and pharynx specimens was the highest
accounting for 41.5%.SAU was widely spread in various clinical departments
and the department with the highest isolation rate was ICU
accounting for 31.0%
followed by department of thoracic surgery and department of pediatrics.117strains were methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus(MRSA)
accounting for 51.1% of the SAU.MSRA was generally resistant to various antimicrobial drugs and its resistance to penicillin
oxacillin and cefoxitin was as high as 100.0%.The resistance rate of methicillin sensitive staphylococcus aureus(MSSA)to most drugs was less than 50.0%
and strains resistant to vancomycin and linezolid had not been isolated. Conclusion Percentage of MRSA in the isolated SAU is relatively high and MRSA is generally resistant to various antimicrobial drugs.Strengthening monitoring and control of bacterial resistance is an effective measure to prevent hospital infection.
