Objective To explore the effect of various combined methods in treating lumbar intervertebral disc herniation.Method 54cases of patients with lumbar intervertebral disc herniation were selected and randomly divided into control group and comprehensive treatment group with 27cases in each group.Patients in the control group only received lumbar traction therapy while patients in the comprehensive treatment group were treated with transaction as well as massage and oral Chinese medicine

and clinical effects in the two groups were comparatively observed.Results Total effective rate in the comprehensive treatment group was 88.89% and that in the control group was 74.07%

and differences between the two groups were statistically significant（p<0.05）.Conclusion Traction in combination with massage and oral Chinese medicine is more effective than a single traction therapy in the treatment of lumbar intervertebral disc herniation

thus the combined method is worth promoting.
