Objective To probe into the cause and clinical feature of fever in elderly patients.Method Clinical data of elderly patients with a final diagnosis of fever hospitalized in the hospital of peking university from april 2008 to december 2010（including some transferred patients） were summarized and analyzed retrospectively.Results There were 37 cases of infectious disease accounting for 82.2%;there were 5 cases of tumorous disease

accounting for 11.1%;there were 3 cases of autoimmune disease

accounting for 6.7%.Among the infectious disease

bacterial infection accounted for 75.7%

virus infection accounted for 13.5% and others accounted for 10.8%.The most common infectious diseases were upper respiratory tract infection

pneumonia

infectious diarrhea and urinary tract infection with a respective percentage of 8.1%

18.9% and 10.8%.Conclusion Infectious disease is the main cause of fever in elderly people

and malignant tumor and dysimmunity in elderly patients with fever should be highly valued.
