A Contrastive Analysis of the Nutrition Status of Children with Recurrent Respiratory Infection
Objective To thoroughly investigate the nutrition status and growth of children with recurrent respiratory infection
and to provide references for clinical treatment
prevention and health care of children’s recurrent respiratory infection.Method 56 children with recurrent respiratory infection in case group and 56 healthy children in control group received nutritional survey by means of physical measurement
clinical biochemical test and clinical signs inspection etc
and the nutrition status was analyzed. Results The indexes of weight-for-age
weight-for-height
height-for-age
triceps skinfold thickness and mid-upper arm muscle circumference
etc.
in children with recurrent respiratory infection were lower than those in control group(P<0.01 or P<0.05).The case group had less peripheral blood calcium
iron and zinc than those of control group(P<0.01).The proportions of vitamin A or sub-clinical deficiency and low hemoglobin were higher in case group than those in control group(P<0.05)
and as for clinical signs the incidence rates of pale appearance and geographic tongue in case group were obviously higher than those in control group(P<0.01).Conclusion Children with recurrent respiratory infection widely occur
and their growth indexes
trace elements and the level of vitamin A should receive scientific detection so as to emphasize relevant signs of nutritional deficiency and provide timely nutrition supplement and dietary therapy.
