Effect of Alcohol on the Reproductive System of Male Rats
Objective To probe into the effect of alcohol on the scrotum reconstruction and serum testosterone (T)
luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) of male rats.To explore the alcohol’s toxicity to reproduction.Method 30 male rats were divided into 2 groups at random
and the alcohol group were irrigated the stomach with alcohol through the mouth
2 mL a day
while the control group with distilled water for 28 days continuously. At the last time
the rats were put to death 24 hours after irrigation. Results The weight of the male rats in the alcohol group was obviously lighter than that in the control group(P<0.05).The T
LH and FSH of the male rats in the alcohol group were lower than those in the control group(P<0.05).The sperm quantity
activity ratio and the sperm vigor of the male rats in the alcohol group were obviously lower than those in the control group(P<0.05).The sperm deformity was obviously higher than that in the control group(P<0.05).Microanatomy observation demonstrates that there was tubule atrophy
spermatid arrangement chaos and unprocessed spermatid degeneration
necrosis and abscission. Conclusion Alcohol produces an obvious poisonous effect on the reproductive system of male rats.On the one hand
it acts on testiculus directly
restraining sperm occurrence and testosterone combining. On the other
it damages the endocrine function of the hypothalamus-hypophysis system. Therefore
less alcohol drinking is of great significance to aristogenesis.
