Objective To realize the situation of second-grade college students’ mental health

to establish mental health files

and to improve the pertinence and substantial results for the psychological health education. Method 3 090 freshmen have been investigated with SCL-90 and sample statistics. Results?87.99% of the respondents are in well psychological health condition;11.62% of them have light mental problems; those who have middle degree mental problems only account for 0.39%; the main discoverable psychological problems are obsessive-compulsive and interpersonal-sensitivity; the college students norm total mean and factor scores of SCL-90 are higher than nation wide scale but the somatization is lower

and there are obvious differences between them; female students’ factor scores of SCL-90 is higher than male students

but paranoid ideation is of no difference. Conclusion The situation of second-grade college students’ mental health as a whole is well

but comparing with nationwide scale

the mental health level is rather low; female students’ psychological problems are much more than male students’

therefore discriminative psychological health education should be carried out according to opposite sex and different requirement of the second-grade college students.
