Characteristics of nondyskinesias in idiopathic REM sleep disorder
Objective To study the characteristics of non-dyskinesias in (idiopathic REM sleep disorder
iRBD) patients by examining the possible symptoms of hyposmia
sleep disorders
anxiety and depression. Methods Forty-eight iRBD patients and 53 healthy people recruited from our hospital between Jan 2014 and Jan 2016 were studied as treatment and control groups. The subjects of the 2 groups were evaluated by factors including sleep indicators
olfactory function
anxiety and depression scale
and blood serum concentrations of interleukin-6 (IL-6) and tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α). Results Compared with control group
total sleep time and sleep efficiency were significantly reduced in treatment group (P0.05). Also
sleep latency
awakening index and rapid eye movement (REM) sleep latency were significantly increased (P0.05)
along with more severe hyposmia and higher score of anxiety and depression in the treatment than control group (P0.05). But there were no significant differences in the serum levels of IL-6 and TNF-α between the 2 groups(P0.05). Conclusion Patients with iRBD or Parkinson’s disease (PD) share similar symptoms of non-dyskinesias. Early intervention in iRBD patients will be of benefit to prevent and treat patients with PD.
