Pre-emptive analgesia of parecoxib sodium in peri-operative nasal endoscopic surgery under local anesthesia: a clinical study of 280 cases
Objective To evaluate the efficacy of pre-emptive analgesia of on nasal endoscopic surgery under local anesthesia. Methods A double-blind
randomized control trial was conducted in 280 patients undergoing elective nasal endoscopic surgery in our department from January to August 2015. The subjects were randomly assigned into observation group (n=140) and control group (n=140). The patients of the observation group were premedicated with 40 mg parecoxib sodium in 20 mL 0.9% sodium chloride injection
intramuscularly in 0.5 h before local anesthesia and 8 h after surgery. While the subjects from the control group were applied with routine local analgesia and given with 20 mL 0.9% sodium chloride injection intramuscularly at the same time points. For the patients with visual analogue scale (VAS) score 4
no other analgesic drug was given
and for those without effect or VAS score ≥4
100 mg tramadol hydrochloride was added for analgesia. VAS scores of 2 groups of patients were recorded before and at different time points after operation
and the number of the patients assisted with other analgesic drugs
postoperative discomfort
analgesic satisfaction and the sleep time were recorded and analyzed between the 2 groups. The LundKennedy endoscopic scoring system was used to evaluate the efficacy of the surgery. Results The VAS scores were significantly lower in the observation group in 2
4
8
16 and 24 h postoperatively when compared with the control group (P0.01)
but there was no statistical significance in the VAS score in 48 h between them (P0.05). The night sleep time was longer and patient satisfaction scores was higher in the observation group in 24 and 48 h after surgery than the control group (P0.01). The postoperative discomfort was lower in the observation group than the control group (P0.05). There was no significant difference in the Lund kennedy score between the 2 groups (P0.05). Conclusion Preemptive analgesia of parecoxib sodium in perioperative application can significantly improve analgesic effect for nasal endoscopic surgery under local anesthesia
