Management and practice of nosocomial infection for China Ebola treatment center in Liberia
Ebola virus (EBOV) is spread through direct contact with blood or body fluids of an infected person or with environment or objects that have been contaminated with the virus. The infection risk is the highest for all healthcare workers caring for Ebola patients. Therefore
it is very important to effectively prevent or reduce nosocomial infection
and appropriate strategies for prevention and control are carried out in Ebola treatment center (ETC). Based on author’s working practice
a set of strategies for EBOV prevention and control
including ETC building layout
isolation and protective measures
cleaning and disinfection processes
usage of surveillance camera and hospital call systems and medical waste handling method
was established and ran successfully for 6 months in China ETC
which resulted in the achievement of zero infectious rate. Moreover
we summed up our experiences of the strengthened protection measures
hand hygiene management and infection control supervision
and brought forward our improved points of views on the building structure and selection of the disinfectant and it's concentrations in China ETC. We hope that our strategies
experiences and views would be helpful for the establishment and optimization of project or guideline for hospital infection prevention and control of Ebola virus disease (EVD).
