Plasma levels and significances of 3-mercaptopyruvate sulfurtransferase and beta amyloid protein in acute cerebral infarction patients
Objective To detect the plasma levels of 3-mercaptopyruvate sulfurtransferase (3MST) and beta amyloid protein (Aβ
42
) in acute cerebral infarction patients
and their relationship with infarct volume and severity of neurologic deficits. Methods Fifty-two patients with acute cerebral infarction admitted in our hospital from October 2013 to November 2014 were recruited in this study
and another 35 healthy i
ndividuals taking physical examination at same period served as normal control. The plasma levels of 3MST and Aβ
42
were detected in the both groups by ELISA
and the relationship of plasma 3MST and Aβ
42
contents with cerebral infarction was analyzed. Results The plasma content of 3-MST was significantly lower in the acute cerebral infarction patients than the normal control (3.67±0.29 vs 4.98±0.30 ng/mL
P0.05)
but that of Aβ
42
was obviously high (44.52±2.92 vs 15.77±1.71 pg/mL
P0.05). Among the patients with acute cerebral infarction
the plasma content of 3-MST was decreased with the enlargement of cerebral infarction volume and the increase of National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) score
while that of Aβ
42
was increased with the changes. Conclusion The plasma level of 3-MST is abnormally decreased
while that of Aβ
42
significantly elevated in acute cerebral infarction patients
and the changes may be related with the severity of neurologic deficits and infarct volume.
