Features of acute stress response in members of Medical Contingent of the Chinese PLA to Liberia
Objective To investigate the features of acute stress reaction in the members of the Medical Contingent of Chinese PLA to Liberia toward the epidemic of Ebola Hemorrhagic Fever. Methods Acute Stress Response Scale for Armymen (ASRSA) was employed to 130 recruits of the team initially deployed to Liberia. And then analyses were carried out on the features of acute stress reaction in recruits. Results ① Total score and factor scores of cognitive change
emotional response
behavioral changes
physiological responses and working efficiency were significantly higher in the female recruits than the male ones (P0.05). ② There were significant differences in the total score and factor scores of cognitive change
behavioral changes and physiological responses among the groups with different service periods (P0.05)
and the scores were higher with the increase of the service period. ③ Factor scores of emotional response and behavioral changes were obviously higher in the officers than the soldiers (P0.01). ④ There were significant differences in acute stress reactions scores among the groups with different education levels
representing the inversed “V” trend from college group to bachelor group to postgraduate group (P0.05). Factor scores of cognitive change and behavioral changes were significantly higher in the recruits with bachelor degree than those with college or postgraduate degrees (P0.05). ⑤The nurses had remarkably higher factor scores in cognitive change and behavioral changes than the doctors (P0.05)
and obvious higher factor scores in cognitive change
emotional response
behavioral changes
physiological responses and total scores than the other recruits (P0.05). Conclusion Acute stress reactions show differences depending in sex
