In the fighting against Ebola virus disease (EVD)

the health-care workers (HCWs) in the frontline are of high risk of Ebola virus infection. Therefore

appropriate equipment and usage of personal protective equipment (PPE) become a most important and key step for effective protection of the HCWs selves. For equipment selection and usage process

both the World Health Organization and the Center of Disease Control and Prevention of China provided suggestions and guidelines about the PPE protocols against Ebola virus. Based on above mentioned documents

the Medical Contingent of the Chinese PLA to Liberia

who independently established the China Ebola Treatment Center (ETC)

developed stricter PPE protocols and procedures. Based on the exploration and practice by the contingent members

we changed the third layer of PPE only when need into the necessary equipment. Moreover

additional equipment of protection equipment was also included in above updated protocols. Compared with available protocols

although our developed protocols showed a little bit of tedious and time-consuming

they were much more effective in practice and widely accepted by both China and Liberia local staffs. By application of the above described protocols

we achieved our goal of “zero infectious rate”

which indicate that appropriate enhancement of PPE would exert more protective effects in the fighting against high infectious pathogens.
