Qualitative real-time reverse-transcription PCR (RT-PCR) targeting  Ebola virus RNA is considered as the golden standard of laboratory diagnosis for Ebola virus disease (EVD). Since the blood samples

various body fluids and secretions of EVD patients are of highly contagiousness

it is very important to implement security control during the procedures of collection

transportation and detection of specimens

and interpretation of test results for the patients for virus detection

including those suspected

possible

and confirmed. Based on our working experience and practice in the China Ebola Treatment Center

we brought forward our points of views on the detailed diagnostic standards

operating processes

security and protection protocols and other aspects for laboratory examination of the pathogen. We hope our current views would be helpful for the establishment of standards or guidelines for laboratory examination of Ebola virus and clinical diagnosis of EVD.
