Posttraumatic growth and related factors in new recruits after first training
Objective To investigate the relationship of posttraumatic growth (PTG) with self acceptance and resilience in new recruits after military training. Methods Connor-Davidson resilience questionnaire (CD-RISC)
posttraumatic growth inventory(PTGI)
self acceptance questionnaire(SAQ)
positive affect scale(PAS) and pychological stress self-evaluation test(PSET)were applied to examine 651 new recruits from some troop after first military training in the year of 2013. Results The score of PTGI were 45.90±18.59. And those with high educational levels had higher score (
P
0.01). Compared with lower PTG group
higher PTG group r
eported higher PAS
CD-RISC and SAQ (
P
0.01),and lower PSET (
P
0.01). Positive affect totally mediated the effects of stress and self acceptance on PTG
and also partially mediated the relationship of resilience and PTG. Conclusion Positive affect
resilience
self acceptance and stress are important influencing factors of PTG. Positive affect and resilience can be used as important predictive factors for PTG in new recruits after first training.
