Laparoscopic gastrectomy with lymph node dissection: future standard surgery for gastric cancer
laparoscopic gastric cancer surgery is the development tendency for gastric cancer. As laparoscopic experience has been accumulated
the indications for laparoscopic gastrectomy with lymph node dissection have been broadened to each stage of gastric cancer. Many clinical reports have confirmed that laparoscopic radical gastrectomy is safe
feasible
and with low incidence of surgical complications
and achieves radical cures. Its short-term outcomes are better than those of open gastrectomy
and long-term outcomes are similar to those of open surgery in gastric cancer patients. In the future
laparoscopic radical gastrectomy is expected to be the standard surgery for gastric cancer.
