Expression of G-CSF and its receptor in children Wilm’s tumor
Objective To determine the expression of granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) and its receptor (G-CSFR) in children Wilm’s tumor. Methods Tumor samples of 27 children with identified Wilm’s tumor who hospitalized in our department from January 2009 to June 2011 were collected. Immunohistochemistry was used to detect the expression and distribution of G-CSF and its receptor in these tumor specimens. Results G-CSF and its receptor were expressed in 62.96% and 66.67% respectively in Wilm’s tumor specimens. Co-expression of G-CSF and G-CSFR in a same sample were found in 16 cases (59.26%). There were 8 cases (29.63%) showing no expression of G-CSF and G-CSFR. One case (3.70%) had expression G-CSF but not its receptor
while 2 cases (7.41%) had expression of the receptor but no G-CSF. G-CSF and G-CSFR expression had no significant correlation with gender
age
clinical stage and pathology types (P0.05). Conclusion G-CSF and G-CSFR are highly expressed in children Wilm’s tumor regardless of gender
age
clinical stage and pathology types of tumor. Their expression should be detected as a routine examination. For the G-CSFR-positive patients
application of G-CSF should be carefully considered for its impact on the tumor.
