Abnormal expression and clinical significance of Gankyrin during hepatocarcinogenesis in rats
Objective To investigate the abnormal expression of Gankyrin protein during hepatocarcinogenesis in rats and its clinical significance. Methods DEN was administered to Wistar rats to induce hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC).Then the expression of Gankyrin protein was detected by immunohistochemistry during hepatocarcinogenesis. Results Gankyrin protein overexpression was found in 3 out of 21 cases of liver cirrhosis
46 out of 68 cases of HCC without metastasis and 17 out of 18 cases of HCC with metastasis. Whereas
no expression of Gankyrin protein was found in the 20 cases of the control group. Conclusion Gankyrin protein expression is increased with the progression of hepatocarcinogenesis
indicating that Gankyrin protein could promote hepatocarcinogenesis
and it also plays a major role in the invasion and metastasis of HCC. Gankyrin protein may be a good marker for monitoring for metastasis of HCC at an early stage.
