Value of 64-slice CT angiography in diagnosis of arteriosclerotic occlusive disease of lower extremities
Objective To investigate the clinical value of 64-slice CT angiography for diagnosing arteriosclerotic occlusive disease (ASO) of lower extremities. Methods Fifty-nine patients clinically suspected as ASO of lower extremities were examined by performing CT angiography on a 64-slice scanner. The image data were processed with different techniques of three-dimensional reconstruction
such as volume rendering (VR)
maximum intensity projection (MIP)
curved planar reformation (CPR)
advanced vessel analysis (AVA) on AW 4.1 workstation
and generally analyzed based on the original axial images. Results The image display of reconstructed blood vessels of the lower extremities of 59 patients was quite good. Four patients were diagnosed free of ASO
and 55 patients exhibited discontinued sclerosis or block of lower extremity arteries around which were plenty of blood-supply peripheral arteries. Conclusion 64-slice CT angiography can display the features of lower extremity arteries clearly
such as vasiform
arterial stenosis degree
occlusion and calcified plaque. It is valuable in diagnosing and screening ASO of lower extremities.
