Objective    To investigate efficient measures against epidemic diseases in Li county after a violent earthquake of  8.0 grade in Wenchuan county

Sichuan province.     Methods    All measures we took focused on the 3 pivotal steps

reservoir of infection

route of transmission and susceptible population. Surveillance of symptom and disease

and epidemiological investigation were employed to control reservoir of infection. Scientific disinfection and killing vermin

and health supervision were carried out to cut off route of transmission. Health education and vaccination inoculation were performed to increase immunity in susceptible population.     Results    These control and preventive  measures were accomplished well. The epidemic rate of infectious diseases after earthquake in Li county was significant lower than those of past years. No epidemic of infectious diseases after earthquake took place in Li county.      Conclusion    Scientific preventive methods effectively prevent infectious disease from spreading after earthquake.
