Objective To explore the value of diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) in analyzing glioma. Methods Twenty patients with glioma received DTI examination. The average ADC value and FA values in the area of lesion
peritumoral edema
cerebrospinal fluid and white matter on the opposite side were measured and compared between high-grade glioma and low-grade glioma. Results There were significant statistical differences of average ADC value and FA value among the area of peritumoral edema and the area of lesion
cerebrospinal fluid and white matter in the opposite side. The average ADC and FA values in the area of lesion were significantly different from those in the area of cerebrospinal fluid and white matter on the opposite side. Significant statistical differences of the average ADC values other than FA values were observed between the malignant and the benign gliomas. Conclusion It is helpful to employ DTI to analyze glioma and its association with white matter fiber.
