Objective To build digitized intestinal visible model of the Chinese visible human.  Methods We used the dataset of the first Chinese visible woman (CVH-2) to segment the alimentary canal images and reconstructed them to the three dimensional model by surface rendering.  Results Segmentation and reconstruction of the intestinal canal were realized

rectum and anus. The model can be zoomed in or out

rotated and cut at any angle

to display the duodenum

jejunum and ileum

large intestine individually or as a whole. It thereby would facilitate the observation of the configuration and modality of the intestinal canal.  Conclusion The virtual intestinal visible model provides the digital resource for teaching and clinic diagnosis

and lays the morphological foundation for the study of virtual endoscope and CT/MRI images of alimentary canal.
