Influence of radiofrequency ablation combined with acetic acid plus hypertonic saline injection on destructed volume of liver tumor
Objective To explore the effect of radiofrequency ablation (RFA) combined with acetic acid and hypertonic saline injection on destructed volume of liver tumor. Methods Twelve patients were pathologically diagnosed as malignant liver tumors and without intrahepatic or distant metastasis
their liver function was beyond Child B and their tumors were over 5 cm in diameter. They were randomly designed to receive RFA combined with acetic acid and hypertonic saline injection before tumors were removed surgically (n=6) as experiment group or RFA (n=6) as control group. Results After a single treatment
the average major diameter of the destructed liver tumor volume was 6.11 cm and average minor diameter was 5.26 cm in the experiment group
while those in control group was 3.66 cm and 3.25 cm respectively. Conclusion RFA combined with acetic acid and hypertonic saline can increase destructed volume in a single treatment of liver tumor
