Ovarian function in rat model of chronic emotional stress
Objective To observe the effect of chronic emotional stress on ovarian function in rats. Methods The uncertain empty bottle stress was used as a source of emotional stress
and 20 day stress was carried out in 20 female SD rats aged 3 months. Another 20 rats were used as controls. The behavior changes and estrous cycle were observed. The serum levels of FSH
LH
E
2
and P were determined. Results The chronic emotional stress could increase attacking behavior and splenic index significantly (P0.01)
and prolong the estrous cycle significantly (P0.01)
but had no influence on ovarian index (P0.05). It could decrease serum FSH
LH and E
2
levels significantly (P0.01)
but had no effect on P levels (P0.05). Concl
usion The chronic emotional stress can influence the ovarian endocrine secretion in rats. This model may be used to study the influence of chronic emotional stress on generative endocrine secretion.
