Effect of neoadjuvant chemotherapy on Survivin, p53 expression in breast cancer
Abstract
Objective To study the expression changes of Survivin
p53 in breast cancer after neoadjuvant chemotherapy and analyze the relationship between expression changes and efficiency of neoadjuvant chemotherapy. Methods The expressions of Survivin
p53 were examined by immunohistochemical assay in breast tissue samples from 51 operable breast cancer patients before and after neoadjuvant chemotherapy of TE (Taxinol and Epirubicin) regimen. Results After neoadjuvant chemotherapy
the expression of Survivin decreased significantly (P0.05)
but p53 showed no significant changes. Altered expression of Survivin was correlated with efficiency of neoadjuvant chemotherapy (P0.05). Conclusion After neoadjuvant chemotherapy of TE regimen
the expression of Survivin decreased. The gene Survivin may be a target gene in this regimen.
